It's pumpkin decorating season! Show off your skills by decorating your pumpkin like your favorite book character or story setting. Make sure to brush up on our instructions and rules below or watch the video on our Facebook page!
RULES:
-Pumpkins may be brought in anytime from Friday October 9th to end of school Friday October 23rd and will be judged on October 26-27th. Winners will be announced October 28th and pumpkins must be picked up and taken home by Thursday October 29th or they will be disposed of.
-Each entry must be a real pumpkin or a member of the pumpkin family (squash is a great option).
-NO CARVED OR CUT PUMPKINS WILL BE ACCEPTED!! Please make sure that the skin of the pumpkin is not punctured in any way. Any air introduced to the interior of the pumpkin can cause it to rot!
-Objects, paper, and materials of any kind may be glued to the pumpkins. Students may also draw or paint on their pumpkin entries.
-Please keep entry designs school appropriate. (no blood, gore, offensive words or slogans etc.)
-Contestants must indicate what book their pumpkin is based on. (entrants may bring their own books in to display with their pumpkin or Mrs. B will find the book in our library or print out a picture of the cover to display)
-Students must be able to bring the pumpkin into the school themselves. Parents will not be allowed to bring their students entry into the school. (Please keep them on the smaller side!)
-All pumpkins must go home by the end of the day on Thursday Oct. 29th or they will be disposed of.
-Pumpkins will be judged on Originality, Creativity, Student’s Own Work and Representation of the reading Theme.
Judging will take place in the following categories:
Kindergarten & 1st grade
2nd & 3rd grade
4th-6th grade
Prizes will be given for each category and an overall Best of Show.
